System software is a type
of computer software designed to operate computer hardware and software. Think
of the computer system as a layered model, a link between system software and
user software. Operating System (OS) is the most famous example of system
software. The operating system controls all other applications on the computer.
Other examples of system
software include:
• BIOS (Basic Input /
Output System) starts up after the computer starts and controls the flow of
information between the operating system and the hard disk, video connectors,
keyboard, mouse and other devices. Printer.
• The boot program installs
the operating system to the main memory or random access memory (RAM).
• Take basic computer
instructions and convert them to a bit for the compiler to use for essential
computer functions.
• Monitor specific devices
connected to your computer, such as device drivers, keyboards, and mice. The
driver application converts the operating system's general access/output
instructions to messages that the device type recognizes.
Besides, a system program
may also include system utilities such as a disks breaker and System Backup, as
well as development tools such as translators and debugging applications.
System programs and
applications are two types of computer software. Unlike system software,
applications (often referred to as applications or applications) perform a
specific function for the user. Examples include browsers, email programs, word
processors, and spreadsheets.
